আমি দেখলাম তিনটে জাহাজ ভেসে যাচ্ছে,
সমুদ্রের উপর দিয়ে ,উত্তাল সমুদ্রে,
আর প্রভাতী আকাশে উঠল বাতাস,
আর একটা তৈরি ছিল দীর্ঘ যাত্রার জন্য
প্রথম জাহাজটা পশ্চিম দিকে ঘুরলো,
সমুদ্রের উপর ,সচল সমুদ্রে ,
আর বাতাস তাকে অধিকার করল
আর এক সমৃদ্ধশালী দেশে নিয়ে গেল।
দ্বিতীয়ত পূর্বের দিকে গেল।
সমুদ্রের উপর, ভয়ের সমুদ্রে,
আর বাতাস এটাকে তাড়া করল একটা পশুর মত
এবং নোঙর করাল বন্দিত্বের ঘাটে।
তৃতীয় জাহাজটা উত্তর দিকে ভেসে গেল,
সমুদ্রের উপর দিয়ে, অন্ধকার সমুদ্রে।
কিন্তু বাতাসের কোন চলাচল দেখা গেল না,
ডেকের উপর চকচক করতে লাগলো তুষার।
উত্তরে আকাশ অনেক উঁচুতে আর কালো ,
উদ্ধত, অকেজ সমুদ্রের উপর,
পূর্ব-পশ্চিম থেকে ফিরে এলো জাহাজ
সুখী বা অসুখী হয়ে।
কিন্তু তৃতীয়টা অনেক অনেক দূর চলে গেল,
ক্ষমাহীন সমুদ্রে
অগ্নি উদগীরনকারী এক নক্ষত্রের নিচে,
এটা দীর্ঘ পথ অতিক্রম করার জন্য প্রস্তুত ছিল।..
